In our beginning stages of life, while our lower chakra (our root) is continuing to really form, attachment is necessary. We depend on our caregivers for our needs; for nurture, food, love, and cleaning. Taking us from A to B for a time being and then teaching us how to get there alone. Healthy attachment and nurture especially with the mother in the very beginning, the bonding period, is so crucial in a child's development. But depending on how this is carried out, either lack of bonding, coldness, or smothering, not allowing the next two chakras to properly form (a sense of will), can cause a profound impact that we don't give enough credit towards. It is said that attachment is the root of all suffering and the key to peace is detaching and letting go, & this does hold a lot of truth, but it's to have a HEALTHY attachment and care for those around us, not completely control them because we ourselves are out of control or have been so controlled we now need SOMETHING or SOMEONE to control. This is when an attachment is not healthy and becomes co-dependency & when relationships become trauma bonded. The best step is to discover what your attachment style is and what your significant other is and learn to heal within that because WE ALL have them. & most importantly be kind to yourselves. Also, attachment doesn’t just manifest into relationships with people but with ourselves. Who we identify with, something about us, or even items -written by Jacky Giosso Whitaker
